Cold Start Emission Reduction Component Monitor The Cold Start Emission Reduction Component Monitor was introduced for the 2006 MY on vehicles that meet the LEV-II emission standards. The monitor works by validating the operation of the components of the system required to achieve the cold start emission reduction strategy, namely retarded spark timing and elevated idle airflow. When the CSER strategy is enabled, the idle air control system will request a higher idle rpm, elevating engine airflow.

While this CSER elevated airflow is requested, the low airflow test compares the measured idle airflow from the MAF sensor to the commanded idle airflow from the idle air control strategy. (8mm) in diameter to contain the higher output voltage. There are two types of wires used in this system, and some engines may have both types installed. It is important to properly identify the type of wire used for each cylinder before replacements are made. Both types are blue in color and have silicone jacketing. The insulation material underneath the jacketing on some plug wires is a silicone layer separated by glass braid. The plug cable not incorporating the silicone layer is used where engine temperatures are cooler and are identified with the letter SE with black printing.

The plug cables with the silicone insulation are used where high engine temperatures are present. These cables are identified with the letters SS with white printing.

Each spark plug cable, if original, is marked with the cylinder number, model year and date of cable manufacture (quarter and year). Service replacement wires will not have cylinder numbers, or manufacture date. On any vehicle equipped with a catalytic converter, never allow the engine to run for more than 30 seconds with a spark plug wire disconnected. Unburned fuel in the cylinder may ignite in the converter as it is exhausted and damage the converter. When removing spark plug wires, mark and tag the individual wires. Grasp, then slowly, twist the insulator back and forth on the spark plug to free the insulator. Do not pull on the wire directly as it may become separated from the connector inside the insulator.

Special tools are available which can help ease plug wire removal, and prevent damage to a cable. When installing a new set of spark plug wires, replace the wires one at a time so there will be no confusion. Start by replacing the longest wire first.

Route the wire exactly the same as the original. 1: 6 cylinder engine-240Firing Order: 1-5-3-6-2-4Distributor Rotation: Clockwise Fig.

I hope helped (rememer rated this) Good luck. Posted on Oct 15, 2009. I did this once, not on a Ford and this is what I had to do to get it right. Get down to your local friendly dealer or an auto electric shop, put on a sad face and tell them your story and they will probably provide you with the wiring diagrams for the 2 cars.

You need both. If that won't work go to faxonautoliterature. They have a wiring diagram book for the 92 for $19 and a Ford service manual for the 97 for $69. That will give you both wiring diagrams. It is an excellent company to do business with by the way. With the diagrams in hand start tracing wires one at a time.

You will find that a lot of the wires for the same things will be different colors, on orange wire in 92 will be green in 97. I don't know why they do that but they do. This should be able to get your car functional but you may be short a few options. I never did get my cruise control sorted out.

Hope this helps and best of luck. Nov 03, 2009. You need to describe the problems. The engine computer may not be compatible with this engine. It may require the PCM from a police intercepter vehicle. Do you have the calibration code from the vehicle the engine came out of?

Most of the sensors and actuators are the same for police and regualr car for the same model year. You probably need a wirng diagram book for a 1992 and a 1997 so you can compare. I may have one or both. If yes, I would sell fro $7 each plus $2 shipping each. Let me know and I will look.
