Brought to you by 1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the Internet. Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. In this video, we're going to show you how to replace a fuel injector on this 2002 Chevy Suburban with the 5.3 liter V8 engine. It's the same part and similar process on these Suburbans from 2001 to 2004.
The items you'll need for this are a new fuel injector from 1AAuto.com, an 8 and 10 millimeter socket and ratchet, and a flat blade screw driver. Start the vehicle and come over here to the fuse box, open it up, find the fuel pump fuse, and pull up on the relay. You may need to use pliers to do it. Then just let the vehicle turn itself off as it runs out of gas. Turn off the ignition switch and replace your fuel pump relay. Now remove this 8 millimeter bolt in your engine cover. Fast forward as Don does this.
Because this is a V8, you have four fuel injectors on either side of the engine, eight in total. To get access to them you want to remove these four 10 millimeter bolts, two on each fuel rail.
We'll just fast forward as Don removes those. Pry up on the side that you're intending to change the fuel injector on. Then just lift up on this clip, and pull it out of the harness, and then push the small tab on top of the actual harness and disconnect it.
Then, using a flat blade screwdriver, pry out this clip. Tuck a rag underneath the fuel injector. Then pull it free. Some fuel will come out. On the left is the old fuel injector.
On the right is the new one from 1AAuto. You can see they're identical, and they'll fit exactly the same. Pry this clip off your new fuel injector. Push your new fuel injector into place. Replace this clip. Push the fuel rail back down into place and replace those four 10 millimeter bolts.
We'll just fast forward as Don does that and tightens those up. Reconnect the harness, and then, push that clip back down into the harness. Put your engine cover back into place. Then tighten up that 8 millimeter bolt.
You're all set. We hope this video helps you out.
